A CENTURY from Barrie Carter and four wickets from Jake Wenman helped Doddington to a second Fenland Trophy win of the season at home to Somersham on Sunday.

Carter's century propelled Doddington to 257-8 from their 40 overs. His innings included 21 fours and a six and was supported by Ben Pyle (31 not out) and James Harradine (24).

M Fenton, A Riley and T Notanicola took two wickets apiece for Somersham.

In reply, Wenman's 4-24 runs from eight overs saw Doddington dismiss Somersham for 170 in the 37th over.

Jamie Long did most of the early work, claiming the away side's top three batsmen who scored 39, 48 and 40. Dan Martell also took two wickets as Doddington ran out 87-run victors.

MARCH II were also involved in Fenland Trophy action but it was not a good weekend and they lost both Saturday and Sunday's matches.

The trip to Huntingdon on Saturday was a frustrating one for March and they were a little unlucky to lose their match by 11 runs.

The visiting bowlers deserved more from their efforts and in particular, youngster Kurt Cunningham who shone with fine figures of 5-26.

Only three Huntingdon batsmen made it into double figures in the home side's innings of 197-9 but Numu's 100 not out proved to be the difference between the two sides.

A good opening partnership between John Wallis (73) and Connor Cunningham (32) put March on track for victory but once they had been dismissed, the rest of the batting order collapsed.

Only Kurt Cunningham (27 not out) offered any resistance as March eventually ran out of overs on 186-9.

Again Connor Cunningham was involved in a good opening partnership in Sunday's Fenland Trophy at home to St Ives.

His 44 alongside Stephen Wallis' 25 gave the home side a good start and they remained the highest scorers of the innings as the St Ives bowlers restricted March to 164-7.

March made the game interesting with two early wickets but the visitors' top order proved to be resilient and they guided St Ives to their target with six wickets remaining.

Callum Young topped the March bowling figures with 2-43 from 7.2 overs.

The only other March team in action was March I who slumped to a 104-run defeat at home to Downham Town on Saturday.

The home bowlers all chipped-in with wickets and Chris Peckett (4-33), Chris Ringham (2-12) and Stuart Mills (2-32) all helped to dismiss Downham for 163.

But the batsmen were unable to emulate the bowlers' efforts and opener Andrew Mills' 16 proved to be the highest score in the March reply.

Only two other batsmen made it into double figures as March crumbled to 59 all out.
