The George got off to a fine start at 3-0 and three wins for L Burgess/P McCabe saw the home team to victory.Although CWMC started with a 2-1 advantage, the home side Buffs A came back to take a 5-4 win.Hammer A came back from 2-1 down to cruise to victory in the latter stages of their home game against Buffs B to win by 6-3.Despite Barry Douglas/Calvin Fisher winning their three games for Conservatives B away to Hammer B, they found no support from their colleagues as the home team took victory by 6-3.Also winning three games but finishing on the losing side was K Ward/M Brandon of Parkfield at home to Walk the Dog. The visitors won by 5-4 leaving Parkfield isolated at the bottom of the table, four points adrift.Such is dominoes that last Thursday The George, having beaten league leaders by 7-2 the previous evening, were themselves eclipsed by a similar margin by visitors lowly Conservatives B. Three wins for Michael Leeden/Enid Waite helped lift the home side off the foot of the table for the first time this season.Three wins for Bet Fox/Colin Ruddock gave victory by 5-4 to the A side in the derby match at the GER. Also with three wins was J Jolley/G Ryan for the Cricket Club who won 5-4 away at The Ship.The Charles Smith knockout pairs match at the USC between Ivan Hood/Herbie Wilkerson (USC) and Barry Short/Jack Lilley (Hammer B) went the full seven legs. There was never more than one leg advantage in a game described as a cliff hanger.
