WISBECH Town fans are probably sick of the sight of Histon Reserves who, for the third time in five seasons, dumped the Fenmen out of the Ridgeons League Cup.

Histon fielded a very strong side at Fenland Park on Tuesday evening and their experience, coupled with Town's tiredness from Saturday's heroics, resulted in a 4-0 win for the visitors.

Two goals from Neil Kennedy and a long-range effort from Matty Hanniver put Histon 3-0 up at the break and they got a fourth in the final minute.

Fenmen manager Dick Creasey said: "We were much better in the second half but by then the game was over. We fielded an under-strength side and they had a side with several first team players in it so the result is not that surprising."

"It is disappointing to go out because it is a competition we could win but we now have to look forward to Saturday's FA Vase game and the FA Cup match next week."

Once again, Creasey has to deal with fresh injury worries. Darren Jimson and

Chris Dear suffered calf and hamstring injuries respectively during Tuesday's match but Creasey hopes they will be in the squad for the FA Vase match at Ely.

Creasey said: "Darren and Chris will join Andy Lodge and Steve Appleby for physiotherapy this week so we will have to wait and see. If all goes well, Wayne Morris and Lee Hudson should start training next week."

Creasey has signed midfielder Matty Oswin from Stamford. The 27-year-old returns to Wisbech following a spell at the club last season.

Creasey said: "Matty is a very good player and we have missed his influence in the middle of the park." He should figure in the squad for tomorrow's match at Ely.
