FEN Potter Joe Perry has this afternoon crashed out of the Haikou World Open after defeat to Shaun Murphy in the last 16.
The Chatteris star had looked in good form at the tournament in China, whitewashing Ruozi Maimaiti 5-0 in the opening round.
Perry, ranked 25th in the world, followed that up by beating Welsh Wizard Matthew Stevens in a 5-4 thriller.
But in this afternoon’s clash, world number four Murphy proved too strong for Gentleman Joe, beating him 5-3 to book his place in the quarter-final.
Perry will soon turn his attention towards the World Championship qualifiers, which will be held in April.
