THREE Fenland kickboxers tasted medal success at the weekend’s World Kickboxing Council All Britain Open Championships in Manchester.

Courtney Brown from Whittlesey, who competes for the area’s British Chinese Kickboxing Association (BCKA) clubs, became British champion in the boys over 55kg section. He also picked up a silver medal in the men’s under 65kg category.

His brother Grant (men’s under 70kg) and Jack Bristowe (boys under-55kg) from Friday Bridge picked up silver medals as martial artists from kung fu, karate and kickboxing clubs competed against each other.

BCKA coach Andy Whitwell, who holds clubs in Wisbech, Whittlesey, Peterborough and Ramsey, said: “The lads are on fire at the moment, they are all training and fighting at the top level.

“All three are competing at the world championships in Spain in November and hopefully with their present work rate they will become champions of the world to cap a great year.”
