SCRUM half Alistair Price captained Bedford Blues to their fifth win in six seasons in the Investabroad Properties National Under-19 Cup.

The 18-year-old former Wisbech Grammar School pupil helped the Blues Academy beat Ivybridge 31-15 at Franklin’s Gardens - home of the Northampton Saints.

Price had earlier helped Scotland Under-20s beat England Counties Under-20s 33-16 - but he came up against another Fenland star in the process.

Former March Bears winger De la Rey Veenendaal, from Wisbech, made his debut for England Counties in the clash at St Andrews.

But it was Price who took the bragging rights as Scotland battled back from a 16-12 half time deficit to claim victory.
