The event is Oxfordshire’s premier marathon starting and finishing on the Tisley Park athletics track in Abingdon.

A spokesman for Fenland Running Club said: “With an entry limit of 1,200 runners the club were very proud to be represented by Ryan Jones and Sean Connolly who smashed this 26.2 mile endurance event.

“Both achieving sub three hour marathon times and both securing personal bests, finally putting the disappointment of their London Marathon 2018 times behind them, to prove a point, if only to themselves.

“In perfectly clear conditions both Ryan and Sean got back into the stadium before the sunshine reached 18 degrees.

Meanwhile, last week, it was the start of the Ryston Runners AC Open Cross-Country Grand Prix, which is six races from October to March.

Races take place in the beautiful woods of Shouldham Warren, in West Norfolk, on various Sundays starting at 11.00am. These well-organised races are suitable for runners of all ages and all abilities with a friendly, supportive atmosphere.

Another recent run saw five Fenland Running Club members take part in the West Pinchbeck 10k which is described as a flat, fast road course. Conditions were much cooler than of late with a slight head wind on part of the course that took the participants through the village and along quiet roads lined with fields of pumpkins and enthusiastic marshalls.

David Brammer continued with his recent good form finishing first for Fenland.
