Members of the Fenland Running Club competed in “four very different” events over the weekend covering four counties, namely Cambridgeshire, Lincolnshire, Norfolk and Suffolk.

On Saturday (May 12) was the Rat Race ‘Mucker’ Challenge – the worlds largest assault course at Burghley House, Peterborough, Stamford.

The full mucker was 20-miles covering 20 obstacles. Matthew Ward completed it in 6:06:03 having taken a detour at mile 18 taking him back to mile 16 meaning he in fact covered a distance of 22 miles.

Paulina Zub also completed the full mucker in an excellent time of 6:26:17. The half mucker of 13 miles and 150 obstacles was conquered by Catherine and Thomas Duce in a time of 6:11:36.

On Sunday Emma Louise Wright took part in the Dereham 10-mile in Norfolk. On a hilly second half of the race Emma finished in a time of 1:27:50 with an impressive PB of just over four minutes.

Whilst with much more pleasant conditions for running of late - cloudy with a gentle breeze a field of 506 participants took part in the Eye 10K race.

The six FRC members taking part were Andrew Plume 37:07 (12th), David Brammer 44:25 (87th), Ian Milburn 49:33, 3rd in age Cat (171st), Jane Greenwood 52:52, 1st in age Cat (232nd), Phil England 55:02 (266th) and Julie Garner (305th).

Finally on Sunday, Sarah Gauvin completed the Bury to Clare 18 mile multi- terrain challenge in aid of St. Nicholas Hospice Care - a route over undulating countryside within West Suffolk.

Sarah finished in a time of 2:52:03 and came 2nd in her age category (38th overall).
