FENLAND Running Club’s athletes celebrated their successes at a presentation evening at the weekend.

The awards night at Leverington Sports and Social Club on Saturday came after competitors had competed in a new event during the week, the Rose Tavern Handicap Mile, sponsored by the Rose Tavern on North Brink.

The event was devised as a one-mile race in memory of Jane Tagney, a founder member of FRC who died last year. Winners were Sam Goodger (male) and Tracy Veenendaal (female) Dan Wate and Gill Holmes picked up first place in the plate races.

• Other winners at the awards were: Robin Parker (Club Champion); Melane Murdoch (First Female); Ellen Drew-Peck (Most Improved Runner); Adam Chown (New Members Award); Justin Kinsey (Road Norfolk Relay Award); Trudy Sayell (Marathon Award); Richard Hammond (Fenland Citizen Challenge Award); Tracy Veenendaal (Geoff Tye Award); Cheryl Chapman (Haydn Practice Award); Sam Goodger (5km Award); Andre Pittock (Frosbite Award, male); Jane Greenwood (Frostbite Award, female); Julie Garner (Special Award - London Marathon) and Jack Trow (Special Award - Fenland 10).
