Fenland runner Sarah Rippon took on the ultra marathon ‘Stort 30’ on a cold and wet Sunday morning.

The course is a straight out and back on mostly grass running along the river ‘Stort’ canal.

After a night of constant rain six miles of the course is soaked in think brown mud which each runner gets to navigate twice – once on the way out and again on the way back in.

Not only do the runners have to compete with trail conditions there is also a cut off time of three hours and 30 minutes at the half way point and seven hours overall.

Sarah Rippon finished the first 15 miles in three hours and 15 minutes before turning around and heading back to cross the line in a trail blazing six hours and 31 minutes and 57 seconds well within the trail cut off time.
