FENLAND Running Club tasted major success as the weekend with one of its runners winning the Coniston 14+ race.
Steve Cockrell, who runs for Fenland RC as a second claim athlete (runners who are registered to two clubs), won the 16.7 mile race in one hour 39.35 minutes. Cockrell, who now usually runs for Nene Valley Harriers, based in Peterborough, beat 1,500 other runners after years of finishing inside the top 20.
He was joined by Tim Chapman who finished 82nd (2:05.19), a 60-place improvement on last year, Greg Tagney (217th, 2:18.44) and Sarah Hern who crossed the line in 2 hours 41.30 minutes finishing in 637th position.
