WISBECH Town face their massive FA Cup game at Redditch tomorrow (Saturday) and for manager Dick Creasey it provides a welcome distraction from his team's league campaign.

The Fenmen, missing several key players, were once again on the end of a disappointing result in their Ridgeons Premier game at Mildenhall, on Saturday, losing 3-2.

And Creasey has highlighted Wisbech's tendency to make costly mistakes as the reason for their run of bad league results - two wins in nine games.

Creasey said: "It happened again on Saturday. Giving the ball away cheaply led to them scoring the winner and it is those kind of errors that are costing us points."

Despite starting the game without Andy Lodge, Chris Dear and Danny Hussey, Wisbech hauled themselves back in to the game at Mildenhall, after they had trailed 2-0.

The makeshift defence were exposed by Mildenhall as the home side scored through Gareth Simpson on 10 minutes, and the hosts doubled their lead on 40 minutes thanks to Wayne Goddard's free kick

However, the Fenmen showed flashes of the play they are capable of and got back into the game with a deserved goal for Dane Harper on the stroke of half time.

Wisbech looked set for at least a point when Darren Jimson pounced on a mistake in the home defence and fired in from the edge of the box, with just 15 minutes remaining.

However, the Fenmen were robbed of any joy when Neal Docking reacted to a shot saved by Nick Conroy and tapped in on 85 minutes.

Wisbech have the small matter of their visit to Redditch Town in the FA Cup second qualifying round tomorrow (Saturday), followed by a Ridgeons League Cup game at home to Histon Reserves on Tuesday night and the FA Vase first round match at Ely City next Saturday.

Once again, injuries have played havoc with Creasey's preparations. Tomorrow Wisbech will be without Lee Hudson, who suffered a recurrence of a calf injury on Saturday.

Steve Appleby is struggling with an ankle injury, Mark and Darren Jimson are both playing with lingering injuries, Chris Dear and Wayne Morris are both out of the game and Martin McNeil was rested from training this week as a precaution.

The injury list has not deterred Creasey, however. He said: "The lads are up for the Redditch game and I wouldn't be surprised if we got a result.

"We are the underdogs and no-one expects us to win but we will be out to prove them all wrong.
