VERY little cricket survived the wet weather at the weekend but March I maintained top spot in Tucker Division One with another victory.

Visitors Waresley got off to a good start but once early partnerships were broken, the March bowlers took over.

Rob Tombs (5-45) and Ed Rodgers (4-35) were both in outstanding form as they restricted the visitors to 164-9.

Opener Andrew Mills then twisted the knife with a superb innings of 89 and with Ed Rodgers (22) and Steve Hinson (28 not out) also contributing, March reached their target with six wickets remaining.

March Cricket Club's only other game came on Sunday when March III travelled to Girton in the CCA Lower Junior Cup.

Adrian Bussey (35) and Jordan Morgan (20) scored useful runs but the innings of 116 all out was never going to be enough and Girton cruised to victory.

- PETER Munns produced a devastating spell of bowling for Chatteris I but it was not enough to save his team from defeat to Little Downham in the CCA Senior League Division Three.

Munns mopped-up the middle order to return 5-31 and with support from Andy Wool (2-34) and Ant Palmer (2-35), Little Downham were out for 147.

The visitors' response started well and Jeff Jackson (20), James Dawson (18) and Alex Platt (27) put Chatteris on course for victory. But the visitors collapsed from 101-5 to 113 all out, falling 34 runs short of their target.
