IT WAS another story of what might have been for March Town United after once again, putting in a good performance but failing to take any points from the weekend's game.March's trip to Gorleston on Saturday was Paul Swannell's first league game in charge since the departure of Steve Wilson last week.March introduced new signings Lewis Lee and Billy Tumblety into central defence and they put in a solid performance. The new signings should prove to be valuable with the news that Ely City have made a seven-day approach for Paul Cousins this week.Despite playing good football in spells, March went behind when a rare attack from the home side resulted in the opening goal on 35 minutes. The home side wrapped up a 3-0 win with two goals in a 10-minute spell in the second half and Swannell was left to reflect on another defeat. However, Swannell believes that there are signs of improvement. He said: "We played some lovely football at times and I was pleased with the performances of the new players. "However, our failure to put the ball in the net proved to be decisive."March remain second bottom in Ridgeons Division One, ahead of Hadleigh United on goal difference. Tomorrow (Saturday), the Hares entertain ninth place Whitton United, who have failed to pick up an away point since November 12 when they defeated Saffron Walden Town 3-2.
