MARCH Town United are bottom of Ridgeons Division One following Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Godmanchester Rovers. It was another disappointing result for manager Paul Swannell but, unlike several other recent defeats, the Hares also put in a disappointing performance.A Rovers goal in the dying minutes consigned March to their seventh league game without a win but Swannell is aiming to address his side's primary weakness - a lack of goals. This week, Ryan Francis, striker with Peterborough Premier side Perkins, became the latest signing for March and Swannell hopes that his introduction will spark a more clinical touch in front of goal.Another new signing, goalkeeper Nick Liversidge, made his debut against Godmanchester and he provides much-needed back-up for Lee Smith. But Liversidge could do nothing to stop Rovers' late goal, which was the only highlight in a dull game. The closest March came to scoring was when Tom Chilton's 18th minute shot from the edge of the box found the back of the net but the goal was ruled out for offside.Swannell said: "Both sides were awful and gave the ball away far too easily. The pitch was terrible as were the changing facilities at the ground but these are not excuses - it was the same for both sides."There is a very good spirit in the team and if we can get on a run then I am sure we can keep it going."He added: "If we have a storming end to the season then no one will remember us being bottom of the league."We are missing several key players and when we get a more settled squad then I am sure we will perform better."Swannell added: "We are not playing a lot worse than we did last season but we are being punished for a lack of goals."Ryan Francis will not be able to make his Hares debut for another two weeks and Dan Moyes, who picked up an ankle injury on Saturday, is doubtful for tomorrow's home match against Long Melford.Mark Welcher is also a doubt and Shaun Coulson is suspended.Hares: Nick Liversidge, Louis Lee, Darren Hurst, Billy Tumblety, Ashley Spendelow, Daniel Moyes, Harry Roe, Charlie Patten, Tom Chilton, Aaron Bailey, Ashley Brand. Subs (all used) - Stuart Warby, Martin Wells, Mark Welcher.
