Injury crisis shows signs of improvement as March Town United pick up first win in seven games

MARCH Town United's relentless injury problems and miserable run of form showed signs of improvement after last night's 2-0 win over Fakenham Town.
Goals from Stu Anderson and Luke Weston secured the depleted Hares first win in seven league games. Andy Bryan’s late equaliser also rescued a point at Team Bury on Saturday.
With six players set to return for Saturday’s home clash with high-flying Whitton United, Hares boss Jamie Weston’s luckless streak seems to be coming to an end.
Jamie Weston said: “We’re heading in the right direction and last night’s performance was really encouraging.
“Defensively it’s as good as we’ve been all season and we also looked dangerous going forward. Luke (Weston) was sharper than he has been and Dan Sterna returned to give us some extra energy in midfield.
“The lads’ hard work throughout this tough spell has finally paid off because they’ve deserved much more for the effort they’ve been putting in.”
Ash Brand, Denny Escorcio, Juliano Gomez de Menzies, Lee Day, Scott Welcher and Joe Barnes should all be available to play against Whitton - who haven’t lost since August.
Former reserves regulars Ben Lemmon and Anderson also look set to keep their places in the team after impressing during a spell which has seen up to 12 players sidelined.
Hares boss Weston said: “There’s a good feeling about the place because when you work so hard you enjoy your wins that little bit more.
“All the lads that have come in have given me a welcome selection headache now that players are coming back. If Ben keeps it up he will make that left-back slot his own. He looks like he’s always been playing Ridgeons League football.
“I’m so proud of the guys for giving their all for me during this tough spell.”
• March Town United Reserves title hopes suffered a major blow after they lost 4-2 at Cottenham United Reserves on Saturday. They travel to fifth-placed St Ives Rangers tomorrow.
