LOCAL FOOTBALL: Bad day for Chatteris Town teams, misery for March Rangers sides, but much better for Manea

Caretaker boss Sean McKay couldn’t conjure an immediate improvement from struggling Chatteris Town.
McKay stepped into the hotseat at the Cambs League club last week following the resignation of Lea Jordan, who endured a miserable two-and-a-half month reign in which the Lilies lost every game.
And rock-bottom Town were beaten again last Saturday when falling to a 3-0 home defeat at the hands of Foxton in a Kershaw Premier Division basement battle.
Chatteris face another crucial West Street clash this Saturday when they host fellow strugglers Cambridge City Development.
The Lilies reserve side also had a weekend to forget. They were on the receiving end of a 15-1 defeat to Huntingon outfit AFC Barley Mow in Division 1B.
March Rangers were knocked off the Division 2B summit following a 3-1 defeat to Brampton Reserves in a top-of-the-table clash, but two other local teams fared better at that level.
A Nick Ward brace earned Wimblington a 2-1 victory at Wisbech St Mary A and there was also a welcome first win of the season for Manea - Luthan Willie provided both of the goals as they overcame Soham United Reserves 2-1.
Benwick Athletic failed to boost their survival hopes in Division 3B when going own 4-2 to Wisbech Town Acorns despite strikes from Sam Kavanagh and Dillon Stevens, while March Rangers Reserves remain bottom of Division 4B after a 5-1 home drubbing at the hands of Witchford 96 Reserves. Chatteris Town ‘A’ stay second-bottom after a 4-3 loss to Needingworth United Reserves.
Wimblington Reserves were also beaten at that level. Jack O’Connor and Ryan Smith found the net in their 4-2 loss at home to Isleham United Reserves.
There were three local victories in Division 5B where March Soccer School Academy, Marchester United and Chatteris Fen Tigers Reerves all triumphed.
Aaron Yeomans struck twice as the Academy beat Wicken 4-0; Sam Bothamley, Lewis Greening and Alan Hayler netted in a 3-2 win at Fenstanton Reserves for Marchester, while Robbie Ryan was at the double as the Tigers lads eased past Cottenham United ‘A’ 2-0.
