March Town United boss Weston fears Christmas clash at Downham will fall foul of the weather

MARCH Town United boss Jamie Weston has insisted his players will be ready for their Christmas clash at Downham - even though he expects the game to be postponed.
The Hares are scheduled to make the short trip to the Ridgeons First Division strugglers on Monday and look to continue their scintillating away form which has seen them notch four consecutive league wins on the road.
However, with more freezing weather expected Weston admits the fixture is already in doubt.
“I’ll be very surprised if it’s on because I can’t see it warming up enough,” said Weston.
“However, we will still prepare properly for the game, like we’ve continued to do recently, just in case it’s on. The lads have really had to look after themselves as we’ve had so many games called off.
“We’ve done our best but it’s been hard to train as even the astroturf has been icy and we don’t want players to get injured.
“They’re a fit bunch of lads so our lack of matches shouldn’t be too much of an issue and to be fair it’s the same for both sides.”
Weston’s outfit seem to have turned a corner after their 6-1 thumping against Diss and could go joint-second if they win their games in hand.
With the next five scheduled games against sides below them the Hares’ boss is urging his troops to put together a run which could seem them challenge for promotion.
Weston said: “I think this period is vital - it always is - but we’ve got to play catch-up and we’re playing a lot of sides below us in the next few games.
“To be fair we would welcome a run of fixtures and we’re definitely targeting wins in the next four or five games which will get us right back in contention.
“We did really well last year in beating the teams below us and coupled with our form against the top sides this year we can do really well if we do it again.”
