Park Ladies reduced the gap at the top of the Women's Championship South in sensational style at the weekend with a fantastic 11-0 victory over a hapless Comberton.

Despite winds of up to 40 miles per hour, Park worked hard to take the lead through a cut back from Kirstie Smith to Francesca Mae Plitsch who fired the ball into the roof of the net.

Plitsch’s second was another team effort; a square ball from Erin Powell fell to her just inside the box which she duly finished.

Plitsch then turned provider and squared a ball across the six-yard box to Smith who finished from close range on her left foot.

Park pressurised the Comberton defence early on in the second half and it wasn’t long until Plitsch secured her hat trick.

Impressive play from Park on the wing saw the ball crossed into a dangerous area and a missed clearance from Comberton saw their defender put it past her own keeper for five-nil.

Smith got her second; converting a cross with an unstoppable shot into the net.

Smith then took her chance to bag a hat trick with another low cross from Casey Ward being dispatched into the top right corner for seven.

Plitsch got her fourth after skipping past a defender in the area and slotted the ball low into the corner, followed by a powerful strike from Casey Ward for Park’s ninth.

Player-of-the match Plitsch then scored her fifth striking just inside the area into the roof of the net to reach double figures for Park, and Smith added yet another goal in the dying seconds.

Park’s excellent win sees them climb to within three points of St Ives Ladies at the top of the league.
