THE Neale-Wade Community College under-18 football team are out of the English Schools FA (ESFA) Trophy.
The March team crashed out of the competition at the GER on Tuesday afternoon when they were beaten 4-1 by a very good West London Academy side.
Last year's finalists West London Academy look set to be on their way to the final again after producing a commanding performance to book their place in the quarter-finals.
A goal early in the first half put the visitors ahead and a penalty just before the break doubled their lead.
Neale-Wade battled hard, but the game was effectively killed-off by a third goal for West London Academy midway through the second half.
There was something for the home crowd to cheer when Aaron Bailey netted a penalty, but any hopes of a dramatic comeback were dashed when the visitors scored a fourth goal in the dying minutes.
Team manager Dave Kenning said: "The team showed a lot of effort, guts and determination but it was just not to be.
"They have done extremely well to reach this stage of the competition and I would like to thank the local community for their support during our cup run."
Neale-Wade were the only Cambridgeshire side to have reached the final stages of a national cup competition and they can now look for some compensation when they take on Walton School, Peterborough, in the County Cup semi-finals.
The date of this match is still to be decided.
Neale-Wade squad: Ben Collett, Jamie Stimpson, Ben Lemmon, Stuart Porter, Rob Menarry, Scott Welcher, Dean Russell, Lewis Hilliard, Elliot Welland, Aaron Bailey, Rob Spendelow, Sam Murphy, Josh Westley, Danny Waite, Daniel Bryant, James Mortlock.
