CARETAKER boss Julian Young admitted his delight after Chatteris Town kept their first clean sheet since August to claim a valuable point.

The Lilies have shipped more than 60 goals already this season. They have not won since September and currently sit second-bottom in the Kershaw Premier League.

But Saturday’s 0-0 draw with mid-table Littleport Town prompted Young to insist that there are signs of a revival at West Street.

He said: “When I came in I sat the squad down and told them we were going to have a system of play. It’s not going to be pretty but it will make us hard to beat.

“That plan pretty much completely worked on Saturday.

“I haven’t got a bad word to say about any of the lads. They all did their jobs, from the guy up front to the goalkeeper.

“If we show that sort of spirit for the rest of the season, we can stay up.”

Young, a former Lilies player, took over as caretaker boss after Steve Taylor left the club earlier this month.

Chatteris host Foxton, who they beat 3-1 in September, on Saturday (KO 2pm).
