MARCH Conservative Bowls Club enjoyed an entertaining afternoon of competition in the Jim Flint Trophy, on Saturday.

Team members were drawn from a hat and games were played in a league format before two won through to the finals day to be played on September 16 and 17.

The two teams to qualify for the final were skippered by the club president Roy Giddens and vice president Gerry Painter. Team members were Jean Green, Olive Fisher and Roy Giddens, and Gerry Painter, Betty Parrish and Tina Moran.

March were also involved in an exciting match with Ely in the annual Fenland Trophy match.

In the first leg played in Ely, trophy holders March won three rinks to two and took a two-point lead in to the return leg in March.

However, Ely overwhelmed the home side and won four rinks to secure a 12-8 victory and win back the trophy.
