The Braza Club was packed for March ABC’s home show on Friday.

The spectators were treated to three bouts involving Fenland boxers and seven other contests featuring talented young prospects from all over the country.

Opening the show was March ABC boxer Acer Smith, who took on Coby Brown of Boston.

The 11 year old would have been forgiven for showing nerves in his first ever bout, but he looked completely at home.

Smith’s powerful punches left their mark on Brown, who took an eight count in the final round, and he won the bout by unanimous decision.

Fellow March ABC boxer Nathan Smith, 15, was in action against Kingfisher’s Dylan Parker.

Smith got stronger as the bout progressed and he too won by unanimous decision.

Chatteris ABC prospect Ryan Ducker made it a clean sweep for Fenland boxers on the night with an assured unanimous decision win over Liam Eley of Aston Police.

And Riley Smith, of nearby club Haddenham ABC, was a split decision winner over Aston’s Daniel O’Sullivan.

Unfortunately, illness meant Patsy Smith’s much anticipated rematch with National County Champion Shelley Sweeney and Reagan Lazenby’s contest were called off.

March ABC trainer Dave Cole said: “Flu has decimated the gym. Patsy trained on Wednesday but her strength had gone and Reagan was due to face a good boy but he also had to pull out.

“Acer Smith has just turned 11 and that was his first bout. I’m really pleased with him. In the last round he started to measure his punches and he nearly stopped his opponent.

“Nathan Smith was only in his third bout and he also did well. He came on strong as the bout went on.

“We’ve had another good turnout. I’d like to thank the public for once again coming out and supporting the club.”
