Tony Battersby’s goal helped Wisbech Town earn a hard-fought point against high flying Spalding United on Saturday.
Spalding went into the game having won 23 of their 24 United Counties League matches this season.
But they came up against the Fenmen in determined mood, with players keen to impress ahead of Saturday’s FA Vase 5th round clash away at Hadleigh United.
Ex-Tulip Battersby put Wisbech ahead on 15 minutes - he blocked a clearance from Spalding goalkeeper Michael Duggan before chasing down the loose ball and blasting past the scrambling keeper.
Mark Jones levelled for Spalding on 61 minutes - Lea Jordan saved Chris Hall’s strike but the ball fell nicely for the alert Jones, who slid home.
