Jordan Gill reckons he made a statement when producing a stunning comeback display.

The Chatteris talent lived up to his nickname of ‘The Thrill’ when KO-ing Jordan Ellison inside two rounds last Saturday night.

Gill floored his opponent three times in a sensational return to the ring at the Doncaster Dome as he extended his unbeaten record to 17 fights in a first outing for 18 months – and his first since joining up with new trainer Dave Coldwell.

“It felt good to be back where I belong in the ring,” said 23 year-old Gill. “It was probably my toughest test to date and probably my best performance as well.

“I can take a lot from the fight. I don’t think there was any rustiness after being out of the ring for so long.

“I feel I’m punching harder without really trying to do that, I felt I was relaxed and I worked on the things my new coach has told me to do.

“To come back from 18 months out against a tough opponent, and put him away in the style I did, is a statement – and I’m very happy to have made that statement.

“It was a fight put on at short notice and I’m thankful to so many people for coming and supporting me as always.”

After a frustrating spell of inactivity, Gill won’t have long to wait for his next test.

He has already been scheduled to fight again on a show in Norwich on October 14.

He added: “I’m working hard every day and hopefully we can now build up a bit of momentum.

“I’ll be back in the ring in five weeks’ time and that will be another step up.

“We’ll find the best opponent we possibly can for that date and then we’re looking for a shot at a title in December.

“It’s going really well in the new gym. It’s very tough and completely different to what I was doing before.

“I’ve showed what I can do after only three weeks under a new trainer. Give me three months or three years and everyone will see what I can really do.

“I just can’t wait to be winning titles in big fights and in front of thousands of fans.”

Gill issued public thanks to Chatteris Town Butchers, George Munns, Jordan Fitness and Zoostorm for their backing, and C & G Coaches for supplying a supporters’ coach to Doncaster.
