A WISBECH netball coach has won a national award for her outstanding contribution to the development of the sport at grassroots level.

Andrea Eggleton, who has chaired the Wisbech Netball League since 1997, is the first person from Cambridgeshire to win a Goalden Globe.

She won the eastern region award earlier this year, but now she has bagged the national prize for her dedication to developing netball in Fenland.

Ms Eggleton chairs the Fenland Youth League, which she founded in 2000, and runs netball coaching courses across the county. She also chairs the Rookies Netball Club, who have five teams and an award-winning junior section.
