NOTHING is going our way at the moment." That was manager Dick Creasey's reaction after Wisbech Town's controversial 1-0 defeat at Dereham on Tuesday night.

Three sendings-off and a late re-taken penalty consigned the Fenmen to a fourth Ridgeons Premier defeat in their opening five games.

It was the second defeat for

Wisbech in a week and after Saturday's hugely disappointing 2-1 home defeat to Needham Market, the Fenmen were unable to bounce back with a win.

Given his team's disappointing form at the moment, the Wisbech manager has admitted to feeling the heat.

He said: "The players and myself are all under pressure to start getting results and we need to change things very quickly.

"The situation means that heads will have to roll and that may well include my own. I don't want to leave the club and I have never been sacked in my life but I would fully understand it if I was to be given my marching orders after our start to the season."

He added: "But while I am here I will work every hour to make sure that we quickly turn things around."

Once again, Wisbech were made to pay for not putting the ball in the net on Saturday and it was another performance that left Creasey questioning the players' desire.

Danny Hussey's second half equaliser had appeared to give the Fenmen a point against Needham but a late strike gave the visitors the win.

However, Creasey saw improvements in his side at Dereham on Tuesday but it turned out to be a frustrating night for the Fenmen, who lost three players to red cards in the final five minutes and lost the game to a 90th minute penalty.

Chris Dear saw red with two minutes remaining after throwing the ball away in frustration and picking up a second yellow card.

Andy Lodge also received a second yellow after he was adjudged to have brought down a Dereham player in the box on the stroke of full time.

Wisbech keeper Nick Conroy saved the first effort well but the referee ordered the kick to be taken again and Adam Gusterson dispatched his second attempt.

And to add insult to injury, Danny Hussey was awarded a straight red card for violent conduct.

Creasey said: "We were all amazed that we didn't get something from the game. I asked the lads to give me everything they had and to be fair to them they gave their best performance of the season so far."

He added: "I have to say that the officials' performances on Tuesday were awful. I can not argue with Danny Hussey's red card but towards the end of the game the lads got very frustrated.

"Chris Dear apologised for getting sent off and I understand why it happened but I feel very sorry for Andy Lodge."

Creasey said: "He told me that he had made contact with the ball and their player had got up and told the referee that it wasn't a foul.

"Nick produced a great save for the first penalty but for some reason the referee decided to get it retaken."

Creasey is now looking for a turn around in fortunes tomorrow (Saturday) when Wisbech kick off their FA Cup campaign at home to Mildenhall Town.

Mildenhall have won three away league games on the bounce and the Fenmen will be without the injured Wayne Morris and Lee Hudson.

Creasey said: "We have to get a result on Saturday: It's as simple as that. I am still looking to bring new players in to the team and change things around, particularly in midfield.

"Hopefully we may have a new player before Saturday's game but I expect to be able to announce new signings next early next week.
