Wisbech Town are celebrating a club first this week.
The club’s ladies third team was awarded the ERHA Women’s Fair Play trophy for the first time in the club’s history last week for picking up the fewest penalty cards last term.
The club struggled for form last season after clinching promotion to the East League Division Three North-West and slipped were consequently relegated back to Division Four North-West, but their fair play award will be a welcome boost ahead of the new season, which kicks off in two months’ time.
The side’s captain, Kim Speed, said: “After a really difficult and challenging season for the ladies, I was incredibly proud to captain this great team and this award is testament to them and the club.”
Wisbech will begin their quest for promotion once again with an away trip to Cambridge South 2nds on October 7.
