After 17 years, Coates angler Wendy Miller has won the England Ladies' National Championship title.

Wendy has entered the competition every year since its introduction in 1989 but this year proved to be the lucky one when she headed the field at Grafham Water.

Wendy hooked eight fish weighing 14lb 15oz and finished four hours early to accrue bonus weight and finish with a total of 20lb 31/8oz. This put her well ahead of second-placed Maggie Goodwin, from Peterborough, who netted 15lb 143/4oz.

The competition was fished from drifting boats in blustery conditions and the top 10 places were guaranteed a place in the England national squad for the home international next year.

This will be also fished on Grafham Water and Wendy will win her 15th England cap.
