Horne’s debut Wisbech Town goal helps them follow up FA Cup win with Sleaford UCL triumph

The Fenmen go in to the game on the back of a 2-1 win against Kirkley and Pakefield in the FA Cup on Saturday and last night’s 1-0 win over Sleaford United in the United Counties League, their first league win of the season.

Huntingdon Town finished second last season in the UCL and have yet to drop a point this campaign.

Creasey said: “Huntingdon are a really good team. They will probably be the best team we’ve faced this season.

“But we go there with a bit of confidence with a couple of wins on the bounce.”

One player who will not be involved is midfielder Callum Reed, who has left to join Yaxley.

Creasey said: “I’m not surprised but there is disappointment that he’s left. It was one of those things that happen in football. I have no qualms with Callum. He thought it would be better for him to move to Yaxley. He’s moved on and so have we.”

Stuart Cobb and Josh Ford got the goals in Wisbech’s FA Cup win, with Nathan Horne bagging his first goal for the club in the Sleaford win.

Up next for Wisbech in the FA Cup is a trip to Thurlow Nunn Premier Division side Norwich United on September 13.

Creasey said: “We didn’t play that well on Saturday but the win was the most important thing.

“A big talking point before the Sleaford game was that we seem to raise ourselves for the cup games. I told them the league’s our bread and butter so we need to improve our performances.

“Last night we really played well and on the balance of play dominated that much that five or six nil would have been fair.”

Creasey praised striker Josh Ford, who has found the net regularly since joining the Fenmen this summer.

He said: “We’re delighted with Josh. It’s nice to see him getting a few goals because it’s what his work rate deserves.”
