More than 110 teams of athletics aces descended on Fenland last weekend for the Hereward Relay.

The event, hosted by March Athletics Club, saw the teams sprint through Peterborough, Whittlesey, March and Welney, before completing the 39 miles in Ely.

The hosts experienced some success, with their ladies team of Debra Wait, Toni Alcaraz, Karen Patterson and Geraldine Larham crossing the line in second, just four minutes behind the winners, Cambridge Tri Club.

A club spokesman said: “March AC would also like to thank everyone involved in helping to put on the event and the support of Three Counties, Fenland and Ely club was greatly appreciated.”
