PITCHES were frozen across Fenland at the weekend but one sporting venue that did manage to beat the cold was the Old River Nene.
The river fished well for March Angling Club’s open match, which went ahead despite the ice and snow.
Roy Whincup triumphed from in front of the clock tower with 16-10-8 of roach and skimmers to 4oz. Gary Miller finished second while Adam Wakelin took third.
