FENLAND drivers were once again heavily involved in the action at the Norfolk Arena on Saturday, writes PAUL BUTLER.
Jamie Wyatt, from Stowbridge, was in fine form in the two-litre bangers as he stormed to a heat and final double.
Elm's Stuart Warby was the only local driver to place in the final finishing in 10th place.
Earlier in the day, Warby had also placed in the heats with fellow Elm driver, Nicky Young and Wisbech's Pippa Cable, Shaun McMillan and Justin Nicholls all recording top places.
The TSR bangers were also in action and Wisbech's Malcolm Atter recorded his best finish in a final for a long time as he came home in second place to Patrick Bryan, of Northampton.
With more than 70 cars in action, merely qualifying for the 32-car final was going to be a tough task but Wisbech drivers Lee Horwood, Matthew Roberts, Ian Groves, together with Littleport's Jamie and Darren Pinder and Rob Wheatley, of Ely, all qualified in style.
Jamie Pindar also made the top ten in the final, coming home in eighth place but Matthew Roberts was unlucky in the feature race when he was spun out into a parked car while leading the race with only a couple of laps left.
Stock car and banger racing returns to the Norfolk Arena over the Bank Holiday with the F1 stock cars and two-litre stock cars in action on May 27 (6.30pm).
The annual big van bangers are on the bill on Monday, May 29 with the banger battle of the sexes and 1300 stock cars (1pm).
