Chatteris cueman Joe Perry exited the BetVictor Welsh Open at the semi-final stage after being dispatched by an inspired Ronnie O’Sullivan.

Perry. as the underdog, had looked to have carried his fine form through to the last four after sharing the first four frames with O’Sullivan - including sensational breaks of 139 and 92 in the second and fourth frames respectively - before the Essex-born star embarked on an excellent break of 101 to bag the fifth.

Ronnie then began to produce snooker that would eventually see him win the competition; winning the final frames - bar the eighth which Perry sealed with a break of 56 - with breaks of 94, 88 and 78.

O’Sullivan went on to win the final of the competition on Sunday (February 21) after seeing off another Cambridgeshire based opponent - Neil Robertson - 9-5.
