Joe Perry fell at the first hurdle in the Coral Welsh Open this afternoon (14).
The Chatteris cueman was defeated 4-3 by Scot Anthony McGill in the first round of the competition in Cardiff.
The 42-year-old could only watch on as McGill racked up consecutive century breaks to seal the opening two frames, before pulling a frame back and eventually levelling matters with an excellent break of 117.
McGill triumphed in the fifth frame but Perry forced a decider with a clearance of 85. The Gentleman opened up a lead of 44 points in the final frame but allowed McGill a chance which he duly took, running up a break of 58 to take it 64-49.
