Jonnie Peacock has rounded off a terrific 2017 with a Sports Personality of the Year nomination.
The local Paralympic sprinting star was named as one of the BBC’s nominees earlier this week and will go up against names such as Sir Mo Farah, heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua and cycling sensation Chris Froome for the prize on December 17.
Doddington ace Peacock, who lost a leg to meningitis aged five, was crowned world, European and Paralympic champion in the summer after sprinting to gold in the T44 100m final at the World Para Athletics Championships in London.
He also made it to week eight in Strictly Come Dancing alongside partner Oti Mabuse.
