March AC’s Dave Burgess won first prize in an ultra race at the annual Hereward Relay, sponsored by MKM Building Supplies of Kings Lynn.
Burgess clocked 5:30.05, as Karen Patterson finished third and won the women’s ultra prize.
The popular 39.8-mile relay event included 117 teams of four, running from Peterborough to Ely, with changeovers at Whittlesey, March and Welney.
March’s Toni Alcaraz was first woman home from Whittlesey to March, as Emma Tuck won the first veteran prize from March to Welney, and they were joined by Debra Wait and Geraldine Larham as third best women’s team.
March’s Wooly’s Wockets were 17th in 4:37.53, ahead of March AC Ladies (4:48.49), Run Like The Hoff (5:13.19), The Starr’s (5:31.32), Team Bryan and Jon (5:33.55), Cole’s Comrades (5:44.35), Tina’s Tornadoes (6:11.15), Just One Orr (6:18.21) and The Calf Clenchers (6:25.33).
