A DEPLETED March Bears side powered their way to a crucial eight points in a fierce double-header with Sawston on Saturday.
Due to a backlog of fixtures, the Bears forfeited their home advantage in order to play the game for double points. It was a risk that paid off and, despite only having 14 players, March battled to a 30-18 victory.
Brothers Ben and Shaun Saxby both crashed over and young forward Matt Thompson scored his first try for the club. Matty Day was again in fine kicking form to notch a personal tally of 15 points.
Coach Carl Moore said: “We won today but we won ugly. Let’s look at the bigger picture we played with 14 players and still came out victorious.”
