March Town captain Chris Ringham will be hoping for no repeat of his side’s spectacular batting collapse against Ramsey when they host Warboys on Saturday.
After 20 overs of March’s game at Ramsey on Saturday, David Hodson (72) and Tommy Howgego (33) batted them into a strong position at 110-1.
But what followed was the stuff of nightmares - March lost nine wickets for 23 runs to be bowled out for 133.
Despite two wickets for Ringham (2-25), Ramsey won by six wickets after 27 overs.
Ringham said: “I can remember a similar collapse in a low scoring game but I can’t remember a collapse like that when you are 110-1. It was unbelievable.
“We were so comfortable when David and Tommy were at the wicket. I seriously thought 200 to 240 was possible.
“We had only used up 20 overs so there was still half the innings to go and a great opportunity to push on.
“One decision went against us but that doesn’t excuse the fact we collapsed in the way we did. The players are good enough so I can’t really put it into words.
“Ramsey have a strong batting line up so our only hope would have been to pick up three or four early wickets.
“Considering the position we were in it is disappointing to only get two points out of the game.”
March will look to complete the double when they host Warboys, who are two places below them in 10th in the Tucker Gardner League, on Saturday.
They will be wary of one Warboys player in particular - opening bowler Chris Whitfield took 7-31 against them when they met earlier this season.
Ringham said: “He bowled very well against us so we will be keeping an eye on him, but they have several good players.
“We need to perform well in all departments and hopefully we’ll be strong enough to get the victory.”
March will be without Tyler Phillips and Ben Pyle, but Stuart Mills is available.
March is holding its annual three day sports festival at The Avenue from July 29-31.
There will be sports coaching from qualified coaches for boys and girls aged between 6-12 in cricket, boxing, mini hockey, tag rugby and athletics.
Days run from 9.30am to 4pm, with drinks provided. There will be bouncy castles on the Thursday and a presentation evening where everyone receives a goody bag containing a baseball cap, tennis ball, certificate, medal and sweets.
