March Town United knocked out of league cup at first hurdle

MARCH Town United were dumped out of the Ridgeons First Division Knock-out Cup after last night’s first round 2-0 home defeat to Saffron Walden Town.

Ross Laird and Jamie Solkhon sent the Essex side through in a hard-fought game at the GER.

The Hares were unable to build on their fantastic 5-1 victory at table-topping Cambridge University Press on Saturday and have no game this weekend after their clash at Team Bury was postponed.

Kyle Plumb made his debut for the side after joining from King’s Lynn Town and fellow new-boy Adam Cornell made the substitutes’ bench.

Elsewhere Swaffham Town beat Downham Town 2-0 after extra-time and Diss Town, who travel to Wisbech in the next round of the Ridgeons League Challenge Cup, lost 2-1 at home to Thetford Town.
