MARCH Town United beat Downham Town 2-1 yesterday to secure their second consecutive top-10 finish in the Ridgeons First Division.
Goals from Ash Brand and Stu Anderson helped the Hares bounce back from Saturday’s 3-2 defeat at Stowmarket Town.
The win - the Hares’ 15th of a dreadfully inconsistent campaign - saw them secure an eighth-placed finish. Jamie Weston’s outfit had looked set to launch a new year promotion challenge until an injury crisis ripped through his squad.
However, Weston’s patched-up outfit battled valiantly to the end and hung on to clinch a richly-deserved top-half finish.
The club’s reserve side now take the spotlight as they play Elsworth Sports in the Cambs Junior Challenge Cup Final on Wednesday.
