RAIN had a major effect on the weekend's cricket and only two league matches involving March Cricket Club teams were completed.

March first team's Tucker Premier League match at Camden was interrupted by bad weather but, unfortunately for the visitors, it was played to completion.

March lost Andrew Mills to a duck but Jody Betts (53) and Shardul Brahmbhatt (62) put them back on track with a fine second wicket partnership of 120.

With Carl Chapman (34) also scoring useful runs, March eventually reached 185-6 from 44 overs.

Set a revised target, Camden put the result beyond doubt when openers Thomas (87) and Gadsby (23) steered them to a comfortable victory with eight wickets to spare. Chris Peckett (2-57) was the sole March wicket-taker.

The only other match to survive the weather was in CCA Junior League Division Four North B where March IV enjoyed a comfortable nine-wicket victory at Newmarket II on Saturday.

The home side were never allowed to get in to their stride thanks to excellent team bowling from Jason Spiller (3-20), Mark Deighton (3-25), Daniel Woods (2-30) and Josh Jackman (2-44).

March made light work of reaching Newmarket's 172 all out and openers Bill Hilliard (73 not out) and Glenn Hulley (46 not out) steered the visitors to victory within 33 overs.

March II were able to get some play under their belts thanks to the home friendly match against Elmdon on Sunday.

Stuart Mills (33) top scored for March as all but two batsmen made double figures and the home side were eventually dismissed for 193.

Mills (2-36) and Daniel Woods (2-15) returned good figures with the ball but the visitors dug in to reach their target with four wickets intact.
