Real Madrid returned to winning ways in LaLiga with a 4-1 victory over neighbours Rayo Vallecano.

Jose Mourinho would not have been happy with Madrid’s second-half display but they had enough of a cushion thanks to Kylian Mbappe’s penalty and goals from Alvaro Carreras and Jude Bellingham in the opening period.

Sergio Camello pulled one back early in the second half, and Thibaut Courtois was a busy man for a period, but Mbappe made sure of the points in stoppage time.

Real suffered their first defeat of the campaign last Friday when they were beaten by Real Betis before they saw off Inter Milan in the Champions League in midweek.

Diego Moreira scored twice in three minutes as AC Milan came from two down to draw 2-2 at Lazio, who dropped points in Serie A for the first time this season.

The hosts were well on top in the first half and led through goals from Matteo Cancellieri and Tijjani Noslin.

But a triple substitution from Ruben Amorim at the break paid dividends as Milan were much improved in the second half and Moreira dragged them level with goals in the 65th and 67th minutes.

Borussia Dortmund also have maximum points thanks to a 3-0 victory over Paderborn.

Fabio Silva put Dortmund ahead in the fifth minute but the scoreline was only made to look comfortable thanks to a late Felix Nmecha double.

Patrik Schick’s 89th-minute equaliser earned Bayer Leverkusen a 2-2 draw with Augsburg.

In Ligue 1, leaders Monaco were held for the first time this season, drawing 1-1 with Strasbourg.

A Sadibou Sane own goal put Strasbourg ahead in the 52nd minute but Paris Brunner drew Monaco level with 19 minutes remaining.
