New Chatteris Town boss Lea Jordan is hoping to bring the good times back to West Street – starting with a top-five finish this season.
Jordan was named as boss just hours after the Lilies’ 5-2 Kershaw Premier Division defeat to Linton Granta on Saturday and the former Wisbech Town, March Town and Soham Town Rangers goalkeeper is hoping to guide his new side up the table after watching them slip to 12th in the standings.
“I’m here because of the ambition the club has. There are clubs in the area that you could come to and have everything waiting for you but Chatteris is a club on the up and is always looking to progress,” he said.
“I’m still ambitious and I want us to do well but our recent run hasn’t been the best. We just need to consolidate what we’ve got now, get everyone back in the squad and get some good results before Christmas.
“A club like Chatteris can’t be in mid-table – it’s not in our nature. We’ll aim for the top five this season but in the next two or three years we should be winning the league and getting promotion.”

Jordan, who won the PDFL Division Two league title with Ramsey Town last season, watched from the stands as Chatteris were sent to their fifth defeat of the season last Saturday but insists the Lilies’ current form is just a blip down to a lengthy injury list.
“The squad we have here is really strong but we’re really struggling with injuries,” he said.

“We’ve been struggling to keep a solid 11 recently and once players start to come back then I’m sure results will pick up.
“A lot of the players that are here have been for a long time so I’m not going to come in and completely change the scenario.
“I’ll tell the players to go out there and prove that they want to play for this club and if they don’t then things will change.”
Jordan begins his time in the managerial hotseat with a trip to Hemingfords United on Saturday (3pm).
The village side sit third-from-bottom in the standings and Jordan hopes he can begin his Chatteris tenure with a much-needed three points.
“It’s a fresh start for the boys and there’s no pressure. It would be nice to get a win and I hope we can turn up and catch the eye of a few people,” he said.
“We just want to take each game as they come, enjoy playing and push up the table.”
