March Town have suffered a couple of heavy defeats in recent days – and assistant manager Roy Brand admitted that both games followed a very similar pattern.
The Hares were beaten 4-1 at the GER by Holland FC last Saturday and then went down 4-0 at title-chasing Haverhill Borough last night.
March fell behind early on in both fixtures, but still had hopes of picking up positive at half-time.
Toby Allen hit a terrific 20-yard equaliser against Holland, while March only trailed by a single goal at the break at Haverhill. But neither match went to plan in the second half.
Brand admitted: “We seem to concede early and then match teams for the rest of the first half.
“We were level at half-time against Holland and felt we had a chance of getting something out of the game.
“But we conceded again early in the second period and they went on to win it comfortably as our heads went down.

“At Haverhill it was a similar story as we went behind inside 10 minutes, but then competed well for the rest of the opening half.
“We thought we might be able to nick something from the game, but they scored again with the aid of a big deflection. We lost heart after that.”
March are without a fixture on Saturday, which is when they were originally due to travel to Haverhill. That match was moved into a midweek slot due to Borough being involved in a cup competition.
March return to action on April 8 when they host next-to-bottom Dereham Town Reserves.
The club have five matches to go in all and Brand admits he and boss Mel Mattless will use them to ‘experiment’ as they bid to create a winning formula for next season.
He added: “We’ll try out different formations and see if we can arrive at something that works.
“The reserves are knocking on the door of promotion in the Cambs League so we’ll look to help them wherever possible too as that’s good for the club.”
Midfielder Casey Logan may not feature again this season due to an ongoing groin problem.
