Chatteris Town manager Ashley Taylor is resigned to losing more of his star players after watching his top-scorer walk through the exit door this week.

Craig Gillies, who hit 39 goals last season, has moved four tiers up the non-league ladder by signing for King’s Lynn Town, but Taylor says he will be the last departure from West Street this summer.

“Losing Craig is a blow but it was a move he could not turn down,” he said.

“I’ve worked with him for four seasons and he was exceptional for us last season. He gave his all and I would say to any young player who wants to do well in the game to look at Craig’s attitude.

“I also think we should take credit for the way we are developing our players. I have four of my players being approached by other clubs from higher levels but I’m confident Craig will be the only one leaving and everyone at Chatteris Town wishes him every success.”
