The Hares entertain Diss Town at the GER this Saturday, 3pm and Whaley is determined to see an upturn in results and performances.

March have slipped to three successive defeats but they want to give their supporters an afternoon to remember as they bid to build a bigger fan-base.

Whaley said: “We want to finish well with a good performance and result in front of our fans.

“Hopefully people can see there has been an improvement even though we’ve had a tough run in the last few games.

“It is no secret that we need to attract bigger crowds to games and that makes tomorrow important.

“We have to ensure the supporters enjoy themselves so that they want to return at the start of next season and encourage others to join them.”

Whaley’s men saw their losing run continue when beaten 2-1 at Little Oakley last Saturday.

March fell behind midway through the first half before leading scorer Jack Brand dragged them level on the hour.

But they were undone by a late Little Oakley free kick to be left empty-handed.

“Our resources were stretched with only 11 first-team players available,” added Whaley. “And it wasn’t a good performance in all honesty.

“A draw would probably have been a fair result and the award of the free kick from which Little Oakley scored their winner was debatable, but we can’t have too many complaints overall.

“We’ve gone from being a unit that was difficult to break down to a team that is trying to pose more of an attacking threat but finding ourselves more exposed then we would like.

“It’s pretty easy to stop opposing teams from playing. It is much more difficult to play ourselves when trying to build spells of possession.

“Our early results and performances were pleasing, but did mask over a few issues which have now become clearer.

“We want to play decent football and build from the back, and we need to see which of the players can adapt to doing that.”

March have two further away trips - to Cornard on Tuesday and Debenham LC next Saturday, May 5 – to finish the season.

The First Division is then being split into North and South divisions for next term which will mean considerably less travelling for the Hares.
