MARCH II had no answer to a devastating spell of 8-18 that fired Barrington to victory.

March lost by 64 runs and it was their second defeat on the bounce in the CCA Senior Division One

Barrington batted first and made 184-7 off 45 overs. Opener Ferria top scored with 52 and other significant contributions came from Davis (40) and Hardman (28 not out).

Stuart Mills was the best of March's bowlers, taking 3-38 off 12 overs. He was well supported by Goodfellow who took 2-33 off eight overs. Andrew Stone was unable to find his target and bowled just two overs, which went for 37 runs. Arnold and Green took a wicket each.

March II's batting began well with Connor Cunningham (23) and John Wallis (33) putting together a good opening stand before being caught off the bowling of Hopwood and Davis respectively.

Once they were out, March II's troubles really began. Barrington's Smith took 8-18 in 10 overs, including four maidens. March slumped to 120 all out in 36 overs.

It was better news for March I who visited Ramsey in the Tucker League, winning by just six runs. March made 119 all out off 39.5 overs with Shardul Brahmbhatt top scoring with 28. Ramsey's bowlers kept a tight rein on proceedings, with Carlaw taking 3-34, Edwards 3-33 and Shanks 4-15 off 7.5 overs.

March looked to have lost it when Ramsey's three top order batsmen scored 76, more than half of their target.

But, just like Smith in the first innings, Ed Rodgers for March produced a scintillating spell in which he took 7-23 runs off 11 overs and suddenly it was all over for Ramsey who were bowled out in 36 overs for 113 runs. Ben Stallworthy took 2-30 and Chris Ringham 1-17.

The first team was in winning form again on Sunday when they played against Buckminster in a Rutland League Division Two match held at The Avenue.

Buckminster made 150-8, Morgan top scoring with 49. Stuart Mills took 3-30 and Matty Bamford 3-28.

March replied with 150-3 off 35.3 overs with Shardul Brahmbhatt just missing out on his second century in a week, making 98 not out. Buckminster's bowler Sears took 2-44 and Baxter 1-22.

March II met Leverington on Sunday in a Fenland Trophy match which they won by a convincing six wickets.

Leverington were bowled out for 77, Steynberg making the top score of 18, closely followed by extras at 17. March's best bowler was Richard Green who took 4-8 off six overs, with Manuj Patel in support, taking 2-12 off five.

March lost four wickets in reply, with Andrew Stone making 28 and James Hilliard 27. Leverington's bowlers, Harben and Thompson, took two wickets apiece as March finished at 78-4.

And in the CCA Junior League Division Three (North), March III lost to Pymore by 52 runs.

Pymore batted first at Neale Wade's ground and made 173-9 off 40 overs, with Heresman scoring 42, Butcher 33 and Hargraves 29. Manuj Patel was the best of March's bowlers, taking 3-39. He was supported by Andrew Wright (2-17) and James Shepherd (2-25).

March were rocked when their first four batsmen fell for just seven runs off the bowling of Butcher (3-12) and Ward (2-8). Patel came in and steadied the boat with 19 runs, in partnership with Hulley (29) but by then the damage had been done and March could not make enough runs in their 40 overs, although they still had wickets in hand. They finished at 121-6, 52 behind Pymore.
