THERE were personal bests aplenty for Fenland athletes competing in the Eastern Young Athletics League meeting at a wet and windy Pickett's Lock on Sunday.

Once again, Whittlesey athletes featured highly in the results to guide Peterborough Athletics Club to third place overall.

Amber Kenny recorded two personal best performances in the field. Her throw of 12.14m won the under-13 discus B string competition and 6.06m in the A string shot secured third place.

There was another personal best to celebrate when Laura Arnold ran 46.9s to finish third in the under-15 300m.

Laura then won the 800m B race in a time of 2:44.30 and threw 7.82m for fifth place in the javelin B competition.

And Bethan Saunders ran to an excellent personal best 45.4s in the under-17 300m when she crossed the line in fourth.

Bethan then picked up valuable points for PAC when she finished second in the 800m in a time of 2:28.9.

Tom Paddock produced a personal best throw in the under-15 discus and Peter Godly battled against a hamstring injury to finish fourth in the B Javelin competition.

Gemma Bays combined track and field events and a time of 47.6s in the B string under-15 300m was good enough for third place.

She then leapt to 4.18m and came fourth in the long jump.

Charlotte Kenny returned two second place finishes in the under-17 age group. A time of 6:19.0 earned her second in the 1,500m and a throw of 10.60m earned second place in the B string discus.

Charlotte continued the good work with fourth place and 3.11m in the B string shot.

March's Nicholas Stone picked up another win when he ran 5:07.90 in the under-15 1,500m B race.

He then took to the field to throw 6.69m and take third place in the B string shot.

Sprinter Stephen Lattimore, also from March, returned two fourth place finishes. A run of 15.0s in the 100m B race was followed by a time of 30.2s in the 200m B race.

The club's youngest athletes showed their potential with strong performances against older athletes.

Maiya Greenwood fought the weather to run well in the under-13 1,500m and 10-year-old Billy Paddock competed in only his second meeting.
