CAMBRIDGESHIRE men's A pool team were crowned the EPCS national county champions at the weekend. At the championships, held in Selsey near Chichester, the Cambridgeshire team produced a superb performance that saw them unbeaten for the entire competition.

CAMBRIDGESHIRE men's A pool team were crowned the EPCS national county champions at the weekend.At the championships, held in Selsey near Chichester, the Cambridgeshire team produced a superb performance that saw them unbeaten for the entire competition.In the group stages, a sudden death 14-13 win over Essex was followed by victories over Staffordshire (14-10), Hampshire (14-6) and a close 14-12 win over former champions Berkshire.A 14-8 semi-final victory against Oxfordshire set up a tough final with Middlesex but the Cambridgeshire team dug deep to win 14-11.All but one of the team are based in the Wisbech area, and the squad includes former world pool champion Andy Lucas from Leverington.The county squad will be holding youth, ladies' and men's trials on Sunday March 26 at the Supercue Club in Wisbech (12pm). - THE EPA Cambridgeshire A team lost out to Lancashire in a sudden death play-off in the county championships in Yarmouth.
